Joana Sarah Grah
Postdoc, Graz University of Technology
I already liked mathematics in school and I had some amazing maths teachers. Rather out of a gut feeling I decided to study mathematics at the University of Münster in Germany. After finishing my BSc and MSc I did a PhD in applied mathematics at the University of Cambridge in the UK. I worked as a research associate at The Alan Turing Institute in London for six months and since May 2018 at the Graz University of Technology in Austria. One aspect I really like about my work is that I can apply theoretical methods to real-world problems, especially in the field of biomedicine, and work in interdisciplinary teams. My research interests include mathematical imaging and machine learning. I am passionate about science communication, equal opportunities and women encouragement.
