Wie Dinge funktionieren hat mich sehr interessiert und deswegen in die Naturwissenschaften eingestiegen. Da unser Immunsystem in all unseren Lebenslagen, ob gesund oder krank, involviert ist, habe ich dies schnell zu meinen Hauptfokus im Studium gemacht. Seit 2015 habe ich eine Stelle als Doktorandin , wo ich mich mit der Frage beschäftige: warum Hornhauttransplante fast immer abgestoßen werden, wenn der Patient oder die Patientin Blut- oder Lymphgefäße in der Hornhaut hat. Die gibt es in der gesunden Hornhaut nämlich nicht! Vor meinem PhD habe ich eine Zeit an Immunotherapie gegen Krebs gearbeitet. ------ How things work has always been intriguing to me. That is what lead me to study "applied biology". As our immune system is involved in health and disease I quickly got very interested in it and made it the focus of my studies. Since 2015 I am now working on my PhD project, which looks at why cornea transplants are almost certainly rejected by patients who have ingrowth of blood and lymphatic vessels in their cornea. These vessels do not exists in healthy corneas. Prior to my PhD I also worked with NK based immunotherapy against cancers.
