Fátima Sanchís Calleja
PhD candidate, ETH Zurich / Department Biosystems (D-BSSE)
I am a Biochemist-Neuroscientist by training who is currently exploring the mechanisms of patterning of the developing human brain. I am fascinated by the potential of stem cell research and apply it in my doctoral work to create brain organoids, 3D cellular structures that resemble many aspects of the human brain during embryonic and fetal stages. I really enjoy learning new things and I am deeply interested in sharing my experiences in a way that is enjoyable for everybody. I love contributing to the spread of scientific knowledge and believe that a different, more interactive teaching system is possible.

In a video conferencing call...

...I am happy to talk about my research.

...I can show live experiments or equipment, e.g. Show fluorescence microscopes, show 10x devices (single cell encapsulation for transcriptome profiling), show cell culture or molecular biology laboratories and the classical equipment in them, show brain organoids

...I am happy to answer questions about university and career-related questions.

...I am happy to moderate a discussion.

...I am happy to speak to others (e.g. to journalists, museums).
