Matthias Kiel
PostDoc, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster
In 2007 I started studying biology at the WWU Münster. In my Bachelor thesis I worked on the evolution of the parasite and host interaction of small beetles. Then I did a work-and-travel year in Australia. Afterwards I finished my Masters in 2014 also at the WWU Münster. In my Master thesis I analyzed the behavior of the small Nematode C. elegans with a novel imaging and software tool (FIMTable+FIMTrack). FOr my PhD I switched topic to bioinformatics and investigated the genome differences of pathogenic bacteria (EHEC). After receiving my PhD in 2018 I joined a team of biologist and computer scientists which want to found a company in order to sell and improve the FIMTable and FIMTrack with which I worked before. In 2020 we found our company qubeto GmbH (www.qubeto.de) and we are looking forward to improve the research of others with our products for the behavioral analysis of tiny organisms like fruit flies or other insects. Apart from my scientific career I got two beautiful kids, with whom I spend most of my spare time. I also like to go running around the Aasee, play football and meet with my friends.
