In school, I was most fascinated when biology and chemistry overlapped and so I came to study Biochemistry in Tuebingen, Germany. After my bachelor's degree, I wanted to live abroad and took a more medical master's degree in Experimental and Medical Biosciences in Linkoeping, Sweden. Combining my interest in Alzheimer's disease and protein biochemistry, I now research the structure and function of a protein that is protective in Alzheimer's disease in Wollongong, Australia. I'm fascinated by how complex the processes in our body and in every of our cells are. In most cases, everything works perfectly fine. However, small mistakes can give rise to a cascade of things going wrong and lead to diseases like Alzheimer's disease or cancer. I'm curious to try to understand these processes and see where things can go wrong. Additionally, I'm passionate about inspiring kids, and especially girls, to be curious about nature and the world we live in. Science helps us to understand how things work and to me, it's absolutely fascinating to get to the bottom of things. Therefore, I have fun showing science to others!
