As a postdoc and group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Stuttgart, Germany, I utilize bioengineering strategies to identify mechanosensitive mechanisms underpinning cancer cell migration. Most notably, we have shown that cancer cells are capable of dynamically switching their migration mechanisms to invade into tight spaces. In addition to our cancer mechanobiology work, we have also developed a stiffness gradient hydrogel platform compatible with high content image analysis, allowing us to monitor mechanosensitive stem cell behavior in over 10,000 cells per well.
